Peer Mentorship Research Study with Baylor College of Medicine
Join Our Groundbreaking Study on Peer Mentorship & Mental Health!
We’re super excited to announce that StandOUT Youth Mentoring has been selected to participate in a pioneering research study with Baylor College of Medicine! This study, led by Dr. Cynthia Onyeka, will explore the impact of peer mentorship on mental health in young people.
Since 2021, StandOUT has incorporated peer mentorship into our program, and we’ve seen firsthand how it transforms lives. Now, this study gives us an opportunity to measure its impact and contribute to research in this understudied area!

How The Study Works?
Our program will continue operating as usual, meeting every Tuesday from 5-7 PM at MI3 Center.
Same structure, same flow—now with a research focus.
What’s different? The activities during our sessions will be designed by Baylor College of Medicine under Dr. Onyeka’s leadership, specifically focusing on mental health and well-being.
Who Can Participate?
If you are between the ages of 11 and 22, you may be eligible to join the study. Parents and guardians with youth in this age range are also encouraged to learn more!
